See The Materials And Methods I Use
The materials and methods are fundamental for the artwork's high quality result. Here you can get familiar with the ones I use. Paintings made upon the Old Masters technique will stand the test of time and can be passed down through the generations.
SKETCHING AND
DETAILED DRAWING
The paintings are developed through a series of stages, starting from sketches for the definition of the composition and, in particular cases, to a detailed drawing made in charcoal and soft pastel on toned paper. The drawings are made using high quality graphite, charcoal and soft pastel pencils and sticks, mostly produced in Europe.

COLOR SKETCHING
AND PAINTING
Color sketches are done in oil to define the colors of the composition. Following the Old Masters technique, the next stages include: imprimatura, underdrawing, grisaille, dead layer, color underpainting, details and glazing layers. This is an elaborate, multi-layered approach to oil painting. The paintings are made on high quality linen or cotton canvas, using fine art brushes and oil colours, mostly produced in Europe.

PAINTING DRYING
AND VARNISHING
According to the painting category, three different methods are used: Alla-Prima, Multi-Layered and Glazing. Then, after the painting is finished, it is allowed to dry and a thin layer of varnish is applied to protect it from dirt and dust, to revive the colors and even out the painting's final appearance.
